Kevin MacKay

Kevin Mackay’s love of Corvettes began in 1978 while he worked at a Chevrolet dealership. That year the Corvette Pace Car was released as the 25th Anniversary model, and the dealership received one. Kevin was responsible for preparing the car for delivery, and the experience left an indelible impression. He officially caught the Corvette “bug,” though at the time he believed he would never own one because they were too expensive.

After a few short years of hard work (and being fired from nearly every job, including Burger King), Kevin purchased his first Corvette—a 1964 convertible—at age 23. “I spent my life savings and never looked back,” he recalls. He later bought a 1965 Corvette coupe, restored it, trailered it to Bloomington, and earned a Bloomington Gold® Certificate with the highest score in its class. Despite opposition from his family, he decided to open his own Corvette repair and restoration business.

Kevin officially opened Corvette Repair, Inc. in 1985, renting a one-bay garage inside an auto repair shop in Valley Stream, New York. His current custom-built facility opened in 1987 and is currently being expanded to serve a growing base of Corvette collectors. When it comes to finding, repairing and restoring C1, C2, and C3 Corvettes, from basic drivers to the most valuable examples, Kevin stands apart for doing the work the correct way.
