An Evening with Taylor Hicks
Featuring An Encore Performance by Folderol
Presented by
Kick off Hilton Head Island Concours weekend with an unforgettable evening of live music, Southern hospitality and giving back beneath the Lowcountry sky at Port Royal Golf Club.
The evening begins with Taylor Hicks, the platinum-selling, American Idol-winning singer and musician whose unmistakable blend of soul, blues, country and Southern rock has made him one of the most distinctive voices to come out of the South. Hicks takes the stage first, bringing his signature vocals, harmonica and soulful live performance to Hilton Head Island for a special Concours evening.
Then, when you think the night couldn’t get any better, local favorite Folderol takes over. Known for turning sophisticated jazz into a seriously good time, Folderol brings together exceptional musicianship, big personality and an infectious, high-energy sound made for a celebration. They’ll take us from concert to party and close out the evening in true Concours fashion, loud, lively and with one big bang.

Meet Taylor Hicks
There are voices you recognize from the very first note. Taylor Hicks has one of them.
Long before America knew his name, Birmingham, Alabama native Taylor Hicks was building his sound the old-fashioned way, rooted in the blues, Southern soul, country and rock & roll. Then came American Idol, where his unmistakable voice, magnetic live performances and genuine love of music carried him all the way to the title and introduced the country to the artist behind the “Soul Patrol.”
Today, Taylor’s sound feels particularly at home in the South. His recent single “Porch Swing,” recorded at Zac Brown’s Southern Ground studio in Nashville, marked his first official single release in 14 years and ushered in a new chapter for an artist whose Southern roots have always been at the heart of his music.
One night. One unmistakable voice.
MEET FOLDEROL A LITTLE JAZZ. A LITTLE SWAGGER. A WHOLE LOT OF FUN
Motor Cars & Music also includes a performance by Folderol, Hilton Head Island’s own personality-packed musical supergroup bringing a distinctly vintage twist to songs you already know and love.
Inspired by the style and spirit of the Roaring ’20s, Folderol takes the sounds of early twentieth-century jazz and turns them loose on decades of popular music. Think Etta James to Adele, Journey to Daft Punk, Lady Gaga to Led Zeppelin, alongside timeless jazz standards, all reimagined with swing, soul and plenty of personality.
Led by powerhouse vocalist Candice Rae, with Davey Masteller on upright bass and vocals and multi-instrumentalist James Berry on piano and trumpet, Folderol can grow into a full five-piece ensemble with saxophone and drums. Their repertoire stretches from the 1920s straight through today, bouncing effortlessly between jazz standards, rock, pop, soul and completely unexpected covers.
Come early. Grab a drink. Find your seat. Enjoy the fun!
