Hilton Head Island, SC – Wayne Carini, host of nationally televised Chasing Classic Cars which airs on Discovery’s HD Theater, will appear at the ninth annual Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival on Hilton Head Island, SC November 6 and 7, 2010.

Chasing Classic Cars, one of the top rated automotive programs on television, follows Wayne Carini, known Ferrari expert and master restorer, as he takes his audience on his personal mission to uncover great cars and secret collections.  During each 30-minute episode, Wayne Carini scours the countryside for classic automobiles that have been forgotten. He's hunting for autos that have lain dormant in barns and warehouses. He purchases the treasured finds from their current owners and returns them to his shop in Connecticut, where each car will be restored to its original specs and then sold at auction.

“We are so excited to have Wayne join us for our ninth anniversary.  He attends all of the major Concours and automotive events in the country, and we cannot wait for him to see Hilton Head Island first-hand,” said Carolyn Vanagel, the event’s Executive Director.

While in attendance, Carini will participate in the event’s youth judging program sponsored by Hagerty Insurance as a part of their Operation Ignite! Program.  Introduced for the first time this year on Hilton Head Island, Hagerty partnered with Hargray Communications, will instruct the participants in the basics of judging collector cars, offer meetings with select exhibitors at Saturday’s Car Club Jamboree and the opportunity to conduct their own judging of a group of cars based on an established set of criteria.  Wayne will accompany the kids during the judging process and will help in presenting the awards to the winners.  Wayne will also be presenting a special “Autism Speaks Award” sponsored by Chasing Classic Cars

In addition, Carini will help with the awards presentation during the Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, November 7.  “With his devotion to Italian cars, Wayne will be presenting awards to the winners of the Alfa Romeo classes honoring this year’s 100th anniversary” said Vanagel.  As a master of locating unrestored vehicles, Wayne will also be conducting a special guided tour of a Preservation Class, which is new to this year’s event.

Wayne’s passion for automobiles dates back to his childhood when he worked alongside his father on such classics as Duesenbergs, Lincolns, Packards and Ford Model As.  Wayne is now a master car restorer with a resume that includes body and paint work on rare automobiles in the collections of owners including David Letterman, tennis great Ivan Lendl and the DuPont family.

At age 9, he experienced a life altering event when he went for a ride in his first Ferrari, a 1960 Rosso Chiaro 250 SWB. Wayne was instantly bitten by the Ferrari bug and hooked for life.

Since then, Wayne has been the owner and operator of three companies in Portland, Connecticut including  F40 Motorsports , Continental Auto Ltd. and Carini Carozzeria.
