Motoring Festival Awards Contributions to Local Organizations
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – Organizers for the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance through its Driving Young America charitable Fund presented grants to local community organizations who, in turn, offered services to help manage last year’s record-breaking Motoring Festival. In total from the 2010 Festival, over $20,000 was contributed in local grants and scholarship programs.
In addition to the automotive education scholarships presented during the 2010 event festivities to Palmetto Advancement in Learning Motorsports (PALM), Central Piedmont Community College and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for their design of the 2010 commemorative poster, checks were presented at the Festival’s first Managers Meeting for the year on April 1 to each of the contributing local organizations including: Beaufort Memorial Hospital’s for providing first aid services on-site during the Festival; Heroes on Horseback for coordinating and running the Driving Young America Tent and their partnership on major fundraising programs like the Preview Party and the Kentucky Derby Party; the Hilton Head High School Jazz Band for providing live Jazz music at the event and their assistance with set-up and tear-down; the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra for managing the Festival’s beverage stations, Exhibitor Registration and supplying a number of volunteers throughout the event’s history; Junior Leadership for their assistance in greeting shuttles from the off-site parking lots and coordination in the sponsor Ride & Drive areas; St. Luke’s Preschool for their help in coordinating and manning the on-site parking lot.
“We couldn’t be happier that we are able to continue to give back to the community through those organizations who have directly supported the mission of the Festival,” said Carolyn Vanagel, the event’s President. “This was the purpose in which the Festival was founded, and we are ecstatic that we have been able to gradually increase our contributions over the past couple of years. We hope that we will continue in this same pattern year after year.”
The Driving Young America Charitable Fund was established in 2007 for the purpose of generating, administering and distributing funds to those non-profit organizations and individuals who meet the selection criteria and mission of the Fund. Driving Young America, in 2008, established its Chauffeur’s Society, a group set up to recognize major donors to the Fund.
