Concours Awards Contributions to Local Groups
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – Organizers for the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival presented grants throughout the past week to local community organizations who, in turn, offered services to help manage last year’s record-breaking Motoring Festival. In total from the 2009 Festival, over $15,000 was contributed to local organizations and scholarship programs.
At the Festival’s first Managers Meeting for the year held last week, checks were presented to both the Hilton Head Island High School Band Boosters, whose Jazz ensemble played during the Sunday Concours d’Elegance, and the Junior Leadership program that provided students to serve as greeters for the event.
At the recent Heroes on Horseback Kentucky Derby Party on Saturday, May 1, Dr. Paul Doerring, Chairman of the Driving Young America committee, the Motoring Festival’s charitable fund, presented a check to Heroes on Horseback for their help in staffing the Driving Young America tent on-site at the Festival. And, just this past Monday, May 3, Carolyn Vanagel, the event’s Executive Director, presented a check to the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra for their program with the Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island that will provide recorders for students.
“We are thrilled that we are able to give back to the community through those organizations that have directly supported the mission of the Motoring Festival, especially in this continuing difficult economic climate,” said Carolyn Vanagel, Executive Director. “We hope that our contributions will continue to grow year after year.”
The Motoring Festival, in an effort to continue to grow its charitable contributions, has developed a couple of opportunities for individuals to help support its charitable mission. The first is the Concours Preview Party. Hosted in conjunction with Heroes on Horseback, the Preview Party, scheduled for September 22, will offer attendees a glimpse into the 2010 Motoring Festival as well as offer all ticket holders a chance to win a brand new BMW 128i. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased online at http://www.concourspreview.com/. Proceeds from ticket sales will be split between the Motoring Festival and Heroes on Horseback. The second opportunity is the Motoring Festival’s Chauffer’s Society. The Chauffer’s Society, established in 2008, recognizes major donors to Driving Young America. Those individuals contributing a minimum $250 will become a member of the 2010 Chauffer’s Society and will be honored at a reception hosted at the Discovery House during the Motoring Festival week (Friday, November 5). If you wish to become a member or are interested in more information on Driving Young America, visit http://www.hhiconcours.com/charity.html.
Planning for the 2010 Festival, scheduled for October 29, - November 7, is already well underway. For more information on the ninth annual Festival, call (843) 785-SHOW (7469) or visit the official Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival website, www.hhiconcours.com.
