Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival to be Featured on the SPEED Channel
The Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival, one of the nation’s signature automobile events, will be featured on the 14th season of My Classic Car with Dennis Gage on the SPEED Channel, reaching more than 79 million households and nearly 1 million viewers every week. The episode is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, July 25 at 10:00PM ET. The segment, which celebrates unique cars and their owners, was filmed on location at the 2009 Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival’s Speed Classic event on Savannah, GA’s Hutchinson Island. “We’re honored to be featured for a second time on such a prestigious show devoted to classic cars and unique automobiles,” said Carolyn Vanagel, Executive Director of the Motoring Festival. “Our event has grown exponentially since its inception in 2002 and it’s because of the Festival’s diversity, offering a variety of events, that we are able to be showcased again on this beloved program.”
This year, the Festival will again feature its four glorious events. The signature pieces include the Savannah/Hilton Head Speed Classic managed by Historic Sportscar Racing, Ltd. (HSR), October 29 – 31 on Savannah’s Hutchinson Island, the Car Club Jamboree, November 6, the Motoring Midway, November 6 & 7 and the Concours d’Elegance, the centerpiece of the Festival, November 7, all at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island, SC. Other highlights of the 2010 Festival which will feature Chevrolet as its Honored Marque include: the return of Road to the Future, a display of the latest technological advancements in the automotive industry; a feature of Italian marques in the Car Club Jamboree; anniversary classes for both Alfa Romeo (100th) and Jaguar E-Type “XKE” (50th), and, for the first time, the Life on the Farm exhibit showcasing vintage farm vehicles and implements highlighting the history of the agricultural industry in the United States.
Ticket prices for the 2010 Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival, which will take place October 29-November 7, start at $20 with advance purchase discounts available online through October 15. Tickets and VIP packages can be purchased either online or at the gate. Children under 12 will be admitted free; ages 12 and up receive entry for $5 per day (with a student I.D.) and military (with an active duty I.D.) receive ½ off general admission ticket prices at the gate.
Motoring Festival Partners include the BMW Group, Hilton Head BMW, Porsche NA, Porsche of Hilton Head, Beaufort Memorial Hospital, the Hilton Head Marriot Resort & Spa, the Hilton Head Island/Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, Savannah Morning News, Adventure Radio Group and Classic Party Rentals.
